Consulting
Michael Millenson enables health care organizations to succeed in turbulent times.
Michael regularly engages with policymakers and leaders of every industry sector, including purchasers, providers and technology and pharmaceutical companies. As president of Health Quality Advisors, he is known for combining deep knowledge of industry trends and best practices with unexpected insights that consistently lead to innovative solutions. For example, working with colleagues, he:
- Designed a website that enabled workers in rural electric cooperatives to choose high-value care and effective treatments.
- Created a simple tool to improve communication between patients and primary care physicians during office visits. An evaluation by three medical groups found high satisfaction ratings from doctors and patients alike.
- Conducted a targeted review of quality indicators at a large community hospital in order to assess its strenghts and weaknesses compared to competitors. Medical staff leadership quickly used that evidence to support a successful quality improvement program.
Michael worked with a major regional health plan to develop and execute a strategy to move providers from pay-for-volume to pay-for-value; helped a consultant to group practices formulate a strategy to boost sales of a chronic care improvement service; guided a national media company’s health portal from planning through initial operations; and provided marketing direction for a start-up’s patient engagement tool. He is also co-principal investigator of a research project to identify innovations in patient-centered care by Medicare accountable care organizations.
One theme unites all Health Quality Advisors work: provoking change and promoting better and more cost-effective care.
